When things are investigated, knowledge is extended. When knowledge is extended, the will becomes sincere. When the will is sincere, the mind is correct. When the mind is correct, the self is cultivated. -- Confucius
Politically correct ideals are garbage: true wisdom comes from decades of deep thought and neutral observation. Only a so-called sociopath could ascertain wisdom from this crazy world in a neutral way. Cool thoughts- uncorrupted by modern politics, social norms, or societal ideals- are required for wisdom. Questioning everything, and going against the grain on all universally accepted norms is the path to true intelligence. The Gods notice this.

Japan : Role Models, or the Face of Evil?

In American media and pop culture, Japan is incessantly portrayed as a high-tech country that is extremely advanced in science, intelligence, and culture. They are looked up to by even the most arrogant patriots. And those items are true, to some degree. There are two sides to every coin though...

Like America, the Japanese are a people. They try to work, raise families, eat, entertain, get by; be happy. Most of them do not know what their country does, and the ones that do probably have little power to change it. I suspect they have more say than we Americans do though, as evidenced by the occasional brawls their congress has. That is government in action if I ever seen it. (You would never see that here- the two parties we have are in cahoots and would never go beyond the token arguments to settle anything...).

It was extremely interesting in the film the Cove  that they found the Japanese public knew virtually nothing of it. That documentary is about how Japanese fisherman are aided by their govt. in corralling thousands of dolphins into a cove each year, then wading out with machetes to create a literal bloodbath. Their citizenry did not know that they were eating whale meat mislabeled as dolphin, that there are extremely high levels of mercury in dolphin meat, nor did they know how these dolphins are killed- at least not the city folk. This is due to the vast censorship of the Japanese media. Funny, I recall the US govt. waltzing in after WWII and drafting in a new constitution for them, based upon ours. And ours guarantees the right to freedom of the press. Must have been a typo on their part?

Their constitution is also supposed to ban all offensive weapons and military ventures beyond defense of their homeland. So what is with the American naval bases there? It also bans all atomic weapons. Now they allow American naval vessels to dock there for indefinite periods of time with nuclear weapons on board. I recall some protests about this, but guess who won? The ships remain and a new base is being built now.

What gets me more than anything is their past. The cultured, refined people have an extremely sordid history- at least as bad as America's. Their imperialist ventures brought war to enormous areas and millions of people. Prior to WWII, they invaded China and committed the most heinous act of ongoing genocide in history, now quaintly known as "the rape of Nanking". See video embedded below. Do not eat first.

During WWII, they allied with the Nazis and took over the entire Pacific, parts of China and SE Asia, and even held some American territory for awhile (the Aleutians). Their plan to invade America via Californian beaches was about to occur when they were defeated. People constantly say how many soldiers lives were saved by atomising the civilians in two of their cities, but they never mention how many American civilians were actually saved by it. Their plan to invade America was to be preceded with a bomb containing millions of fleas infected with bubonic plague. We can only imagine what would have happened had they completed this evil scheme.

Let's not forget their obsession with whaling either. Their "Intl. Whaling Commission" is nothing but a govt. run, rubber-stamp agency that is used as a smokescreen to distract anti-whaling people from interrupting their for-profit industry of killing scentients. (Sounds like America's EPA.) Nevermind the fact that the Japanese whaling industry is allegedly run by the laborers of organized crime syndicates there. As long as whales are being killed, the Japanese govt. cares not who does it- just so it gets done.  Their bloodlust for whale slaughtering is just as bad as Canada's psychotic cravings to perpetuate seal torture.

So obsessed in fact, that they took a chunk of money donated to them by concerned people around the world for tsunami/ earthquake/ fallout relief, and used it to help fund their whaling escapades. They even admitted it, as it was publicly passed by their parliament. They simply do not care what the world thinks- as long as they get to slaughter intelligent sea mammals. They crave the sight of the blood; the sound of the gurgling as the whales drown in it. No matter the cost- it will continue. (As a matter of fact, this blogger ponders whether they play the gurgling sounds while they have sex...).

In Japan, the whales and dolphins 'eat too much fish'. In Canada, the seals 'eat too much fish'. Maybe it is you idiotic humans that are eating too much fish.

Poisoning yourselves with mercury and other toxins is fine by me, but when it becomes an excuse to declare a competition between predators- humans vs. whales, dolphins, or seals- then you are really losing your marbles. It is akin to killing peoples' babies because they are using up all the milk- endangering your Lucky Charms addiction.

                            ****

My problem is not really with the Japanese people, but with their government. I fully realize that my country is equally culpable in its obsession with killing bison, wild horses, wolves, deer, alligators, lobsters, and numerous other animals. It has also committed way more than its share of wars and other atrocities over the years, including the current genocide in Iraq. But, I wanted to point out that Japan is no nation to look up to, and is no better than so many other countries that have let power and greed corrupt their cultures and alleged constitutions.

{If you are Japanese and do not like this writing, then please print it out and mail to your prime minister. I will happily retract it when whaling and dolphin killing is banned there.}
